Short get-away at Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson

So, Daddy was entrusted with the job of going to the recent MATTA Fair in early September to look for the best deals for our year-end family holiday. His only job was to search for the best airline with the best rate.

After a few hours at the fair, he came home with a big smile and told us that he has bought the flight tickets. Not only that, he also bought a voucher for a one-night stay at the Lexis Hibiscus and another voucher for a trip to Taman Negara. Hhmmm.... I guess it's not only women who buy more than what they are supposed to. My husband seems to always have this tendency as well....

We made a reservation for a night stay at Lexis Hibiscus last weekend after the kids finished their year-end exam. On the way to the resort, we made a stop at Lukut for its famous curry bun.

The buns were huge, like the ones which are also popular in Kampar. This one, however, comes in 3 varieties - the Curry Chicken (RM34), Curry Pork Ribs (RM40) and Yin Yong Curry Pork Ribs and Dong Po Pork (RM42).

The bun was soft and tasty while the curry was thick and delicious.

The kids don't take curry so they had braised yee mee instead.

After lunch, the kids couldn't wait to drive to the resort which was 15 minutes away. You can see how happy Isabel was when we reached the lobby.

Yay, taking the buggy to our room now. And yes, Isabel was holding her bolster.

First thing to check out was the glass floor where you can see the sea below.

After 2 hours in the pool, it was time to hit the beach...

The beach was clean but don't expect clear water. This is the Straits of Melaka, after all...

The beach activities included some inflatables, which were charged RM22 per kid for 20 minutes.

Isabel got her favourite float - a unicorn, what else?

Isabel was also delighted to see that there was a mermaid tail for rent (at another RM20 charge). Wow, her 2 favourite things in one evening - unicorn and mermaid!

While Isabel pretended to be a mermaid, Ethan headed to the beach...

The sky was getting dark and we were the only ones left playing on the beach...

Time for dinner by the beach... There was a variety of local foods but being a resort, prices were of course double (or triple) those we usually ate outside.

On the way walking back to our room, there was a fire dance show...

Time to hit the pool again! Really making full use of the limited time we have there...

The next morning, we woke up to a bright, beautiful morning...

Taking a walk to the cafe for breakfast buffet...

The buffet spread was not magnificent but was decent enough...

This was the much-sought after nasi lemak bungkus. You could get it anywhere outside but all the guests rushed for it. A whole tray of it would be gone within seconds after the staff brought it out. We joined in the rush just for the fun of it and stood near the tray waiting for it to be brought out. All for just 2 packets. It's as if everyone has not eaten nasi lemak bungkus before...

Added another egg, curry chicken and sambal on it....

It was such a lovely day and Isabel wanted to play with bubbles. Ethan thought it was a 'baby' thing to play but he still went chasing after the bubbles... 

My Ninja Warrior Princess - she said it was all thanks to her gymnastics training.

Their legs were even too long for the see-saw...

Nice pool but the kids were more interested in the tiny private pool in the room....

Time to hit the pool again before going home...

It was so scorching hot and sunny that I refused to even step under the sun. Daddy was forced to go in and tried to hide under the small shaded part of the pool.

And that was all for our short trip. As the afternoon sun was way too hot, we called for a buggy instead of walking to the lobby. Had to wait for quite a while as there were so many guests checking out at the same time.

At the lobby, we were pleasantly surprised by the staff who did a dance to the YMCA song to send the guests off. And yes, they were wearing chicken costumes.

Before heading back home, we went to Seremban to try the famous noodles at Yi Poh Restaurant.

A variety of noodles available on the menu. These were what we had...

Plus a plate of crispy fried mushrooms with chilli powder...

Right opposite of the restaurant was the famous Seremban siew pau shop. There was a short queue but it moved pretty quickly.

I told Daddy I wanted only 2 siew paus but we somehow ended up with 5 boxes (with 6 siew paus in one box), one box of mini sausage buns and one butter cake. As I mentioned above, Daddy has a tendency of buying more than he is supposed to.

Anyway, it was just a short trip but definitely an enjoyable one. It was great to be able to experience the resort for ourselves after hearing about the place from friends and also reading about it online.

 Looking forward to our year-end trip and Taman Negara trip next!
